King of Prussia Mall
The conception of the King of Prussia Mall began in 1959. MA Kravitz Company, Inc., now known popularly as Kravco Company, began to conceptualize a discount center that was built on a 30-acre site. The center was to incorporate a network of local supermarkets and EJ Korvette, a department store.
Two years ago, the Company Kravco had to make changes in the architectural design to produce a combination of open malls and commercial complexes, which would accommodate three department stores including JCPenney and EJ Korvette.
The building of the King of Prussia Plaza was completed in 1963 and was opened to people of the same year. The open spaces of the mall featured exceptionally notable attractions outdoors, such as beautiful scenery, an amphitheater, promenade, gazebos, and water cascades.
In 1967, the Plaza became a shopping complex real in the region with closed areas and strip shopping center containing nearly 150 retail stores.
In 1980 and 1981, King of Prussia Plaza, newly renovated parking areas on three floors, and other structures that had to be built.
The Court building, a major renovation of the King of Prussia Plaza, has led to a new floor, ceilings and interior landscape.
During the following years, additions and renovations were made. The latest addition important was the flag.
Covering almost three million square feet of business domain, The King of Prussia Mall now contains the Pavilion, the Court, and the square. It also houses 365 specialty stores, seven department stores, and over 40 restaurants and is considered the largest mall in the United States.
Mall of America
In 1982, The Vikings and Twins, professional football and baseball teams from Minnesota, Met left Bloomington Stadium transfer to downtown Metrodome.
In 1985, the Port Authority of the City of Bloomington acquired the location of 78 acres which houses the Met Stadium. Four proposals were submitted, however the proposal was combined entertainment and shopping complex that won approval.
The following year, the Port Authority Bloomington, the task of Ghermezian brothers to build what would become the United States and the largest retail entertainment center. Melvin Simon and Associates, one of major contractors malls in the country, became a part of history project in 1987.
The Ghermezian, Melvin Simon and Associates, and annuity insurance and teachers began to break the ground for the Mall of America on 14 June 1989.
The Mall of America opened on 11 August 1992, one days would alter Minnesota's reputation for years to come.
South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa)
Business partners and cousins Henry T. Segerstrom and Harold T. Segerstrom launched South Coast Plaza, in the land where the family used to grow lima beans. It's in Orange County and the date was March 1967.
The mall prospered and has generated the expansion and renovation. Added annexes were built in the area of Bullock, I. Magnin, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue in different years. The launch of the store Nordstrom is a crucial episode because it was not near the Pacific Northwest.
South Coast Plaza began to open its largest expansion in 1986 as Nordstrom, took the place of his tent with a final site 2 times larger than the first.
The mall has an area of approximately 2,600,000 square feet, which contains more than 280 stores. The Plaza is still owned by the Segerstroms today.
Sawgrass Mills
Sawgrass Mills opened in 1990. It is Florida's largest and fourth largest mall in the U.S., with sales area of 2,500,000 square meters. Sawgrass Mills is on Flamingo Road and West Sunrise Blvd., Sunrise, Florida.
This has become so popular because of its inimitable crocodile structure fit. More than three hundred brands and stores are in the mall and that includes JC Penney, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Gap, Neiman Marcus, plus much more.
The most recent expansion Sawgrass Mill was completed in 2006.
Del Amo Fashion Center
For a while, Del Amo Fashion Center shopping complex was largest in the nation. However, when the Mall of America opened its doors in 1992, was outshined her. Now is the fifth among the largest shopping malls in U.S..
Guilford Glazer, a real estate expert, developed Del Amo has progressed over the course of many years of a merger of the expansions at the intersection of Carson and Hawthorne in Torrance, California.
Del Amo Mall was opened by Broadway, an average department store chain in 1959. However, the mall itself, along with Sears and JC Penney outlets, opened in 1961, on Hawthorne Boulevard and southeast side of Carson Street.
Del Amo Fashion Square mall revived as a second in 1975. This time, includes points added as Montgomery Ward and elongated I. Magnin.
After three years, Glazer bought adjacent Del Amo Mall in November 1981 the previously separate two shopping centers formally merged to establish what is now known as Del Amo Fashion Center.
